MODERN SLAVERY STATEMENT
Our Commitment To Ending Modern Slavery March 2020
As an SME trading below the threshold, we are not required to make a formal statement. However, we do recognise that many of our clients will be seeking reassurance from us about our compliance with the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act.
Modern Slavery takes various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person's liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain.
We are committed to improving our practices to combat slavery and human trafficking.
We are a provider of facilitating the sale of roasted coffee beans that have been roasted in the country of origin and within the community that grew it to organisations globally.
We operate a sales consultancy model in our business. We have three Directors of our business and our main services are provided by these Directors, often in combination with other independent contractor consultants.
We do not have any paid staff, all work is done on a contractual basis and payment is made based on contribution to the consultancy project.
Our supply chains:
Our supply chains include independent contractors, each of whom owns their own independent business, including the farmers, roasters, cargo agents, and other transport logistic companies.
We have conducted a risk assessment of these suppliers which is available on request Our commitment to combating slavery and human trafficking Within our business there are relatively few risks in our supply chains or within our business, due to our commitment to minimising the use of independent businesses to the bare minimum between the production of coffee and the final delivery to the consumer.
Due diligence processes for slavery and human trafficking:
As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk, we have conducted a risk assessment QA procedure and QC protocol which is reviewed on a quarterly basis. We have agreed that two of our Directors, Gary Golden & Michael Coates, will share lead responsibility for our work in this area and will provide training on the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 to all our independent contractors.
This will include outlining to our contractors & QA/QC Inspectors how they can raise any concerns about potential violations of our code of ethics or if there are concerns about any of our clients being involved in activities that are contrary to the spirit and intentions of the Modern Slavery Act.
